The Bulwell Academy praised for significant transformation and strong pupil support in latest Ofsted inspection

The Bulwell Academy has been recognised for significant improvements in its latest Ofsted inspection, with inspectors highlighting a positive culture where "pupils are proud of their school and feel valued by adults".
Inspectors noted the calm, purposeful environment that leaders have established, where pupils feel safe, supported and able to succeed. Relationships between staff and pupils are a particular strength, with pupils reporting that they feel safe and valued as part of the school community.
The report highlights the academy’s strong focus on pastoral care, inclusion and belonging, alongside improvements in attendance and behaviour. Leaders have introduced clear systems and high expectations, resulting in better attendance, improved behaviour and a more positive learning environment for pupils.
Inspectors also recognised the school’s ambition for its pupils, including a well-planned personal development programme and a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom. Pupils benefit from enrichment activities, leadership opportunities and engagement with the local community, helping to prepare them for their next steps in education, employment and training.
The report acknowledges that, while academic outcomes are improving, there is further work to do to ensure all pupils achieve consistently well across the curriculum. Leaders at Bulwell have already begun to implement additional strategies to strengthen teaching and accelerate progress.
I am incredibly proud of what our pupils, staff and community have achieved together.
